I am going to graduate with a degree in English, emphasis in career writing, in May 2007. I want to move to London to pursue a career in the publishing industry, but am not sure how to go about it. I know I need a work permit, but I need a job first. So I was thinking maybe an internship would be the best way to go. But I don’t know where to look other than expensive university programs. I don’t need room and board; I just need work!

My daughter has spent the last few months going through the internet, local newspapers and has even registered with a few employment agencies – with no joy. When I was her age there were more office jobs than teens applying for them. Any ideas.
I only mentioned London as that’s where I was born and it was easy then. We don’t live there and she wants to work within our County.

I am doing architecture design and looking forward to work in London in few weeks. I’ve been messed around by job agents and lost a job offer right after I sold my place. Can anyone tell me how and where to look for a job without getting involved with an agent? Thanks for advices in advance.
When I ws in New York, everyone knows you can get on New York Times news paper or online to look for a job, but is there any news paper or website providing similar service in London?
